Water: Awakening
April 6, 2013

Water - Awakening, by michael sean symonds lr

.

What’s real and already here is everything, and everything doesn’t need anything. There is only arrival; it’s a gentle, naked attention communing within the here/now Self. Consciousness is not interested in unity/not unity; it is and you are. Unity is a fictional story created by a “me” that lives in a story called “outside”; it does not exist and neither does the you – you imagine yourself to be.

Abide: To remain; continue; stay; dwell; reside; to continue in a particular condition, attitude, relationship etc; last.

Awakening does not occur in thought/thinking; awakening is not an event. Awakening is concurrent with the absence of thought/thinking/thinker. Awakening is concurrent with the here/now Self; it thrives in the gap between thought, thinking, and so-called thinker.

There is a time of so-called ignorance when we appear to ignore the reality of our true existence and Who We Are, and there’s also a time of so-called awakening when we appear to acknowledge/recognize the light of awareness and Who We Are. The time of ignorance and the time of awakening are equally valid: so-called enlightenment is seeing/knowing that it’s all just Being – being – Being.

When you’re awake it’s not necessary to have reasons for Being; Being itself is enough, just as you are already enough. Being awake does not require esoteric understanding, mystical practice or transcendental experiences. Being awake simply means Being present with the here/now Self and what is, not sitting with or fixating on trendy ideas we may momentarily have of Self.

How to dwell?

No conviction or practice is needed, you’re already/always IT. When it’s suggested you find out Who You Are, it doesn’t mean the mastery of Mantra, Mudra, Yantra or Tantra. Finding out Who You Are has nothing to do with the mastery of knowledge, practice, philosophy or lifestyle; it’s not some certification event.

To find out Who You Are is the instantaneous, spontaneous, recognition of what you’re not – here/now. Only a “me” is concerned with something, which distracts you from everything; you’re not something – you’re everything. Instead of reaching for an idea of wholeness/perfection, notice the here/now Self which is already/always whole and perfect.

What’s needed is not what you think is needed. The here/now Self needs nothing – although a thought that something is needed may arise. Nothing is needed by that which is already/always everything. What’s needed is already/always what’s “got”; better said: see what is and let go of false pursuits, false understandings, and false perceptions.

There is no place where consciousness, wholeness or unity, begins or ends; it’s equally everywhere, in everything, it’s inherently un-divide-able. The false constantly breeds the false and we wonder why the world is in such a delicate condition; can you see it?

Dwell in the sweetness of an unspoken story, here/now.

021

Here,

where awareness is already aware – there is no awakening, but there is always wake-full-ness.

Here,

what’s here is what’s important; here, what’s here replaces the need for belief, philosophy, understanding or analysis.

Here,

in the wake-full-ness of this now what is – is infinitely more valuable than anything that can be.

Here,

outside thought, thinking & thinker; outside the idea of unity/not unity, there’s only an infinite ocean of Being.

Here,

where awareness is aware, IT – is a thought; here, IT – is an emotion; here, IT – is confusion; here, IT – is joy.

Here,

IT – is seeing; here, IT – is hearing; here, IT – is touching, smelling & tasting; here, IT – is ever present awareness – knowing now.

Here,

change, progression & transcendence are irrelevant; what’s relevant is what’s here: the unchanging timelessness knowing – now.

Here, the love of the beloved is the impulse now.

Here,

as awareness,

there is the direct, seamless naked, intimacy of relationship with the beloved now.

As awareness,

there is no vibration or energy; there’s no creation or manifestation; there’s no perfection or imperfection & there’s no veil or journey.

As awareness,

there’s no discipline or will power; there’s no block, shadow or realization; there’s no negative or positive, no heaven or hell.

Here,

this is the yoga of Being – this is the yoga of now.

Here,

where there is no identification, dependency or referral to thought, feeling, emotion, perceptions, association, memory, belief, knowledge or understanding:

 Who Am I?

Now Is The Time To Listen
January 12, 2013

019.

.

One thing I’ve realized on this so-called journey, is that life is delicate – we are delicate.  We have forgotten how to listen to the impulse of life; better said, we were never taught the skill of listening, the skill of sitting in silence & doing nothing – without expectation, until that “nothing” swallows the thinking, the having, the being & the doing.

Instead, we focus on pretending to be something that we’re not; we focus on the doing & we forget the Being: we force a smile when were sad, we pretend to be excited when we’re actually afraid, we try to be courageous when we’re actually vulnerable, we try to force understanding when there’s confusion.

I’ve learned life appears to be both the Up & the Down – the juxtaposition of so-called opposites: there are periods when life appears to be in the shitter, & there appears to be times when life is expansive, filled with promise, meaning & joy.

In the midst of that Up & that Down, we can quarter back & strategize those moments in a feeble attempt to get out of the ebb & flow of those impulses, or we can simply be present with those impulses, realizing we are not those impulses; with a tender vulnerability the value of listening naturally leads to the art of Being.

There is a time for work & a time for play, there is a time for discipline & a time for rest; there’s also a always a time for a quiet, dispassionate listening, where the impulse of persistence within the work, the play, the discipline & the rest, the sadness & joy, spontaneously appears.

Within rest we always/already have the wisdom of our own awareness to inform us, we have the skill to notice the symptoms of both expansion & contraction – with compassionate detachment.  In silence we can rest in the wisdom of our own awareness – with the thought, feeling & emotion, we can nest in the quietude of our own Being, while also effortlessly accessing & navigating the ebb & flow of those Ups & Downs; the heartbeat of this now.

You see, it’s really always about listening: when we take the time to listen without judgment, expectation or comparison, we can hear what we need to hear, we can hear what we need to have, do or not do.  Without this gentle, attentive listening, it’s easy to lose ourselves in the judgments & expectations of self & others, we lose touch with what is & the wisdom of Self, & instead focus & what should be.

In the quietude of our own Being there can be a nonverbal knowing; a comforting haven in the midst of the confusion & doubt, fear & anxiety.  Now is the time to listen; here in the midst of all experience, not yesterday or tomorrow, we can notice what goes unnoticed.  Here, we can rest in the now-ness of Self and with that ever-present connection we already/always have – as Self; we can navigate the impulse of life with a little more elegance & ease.  There is no effort in Being, but great suffering in trying.

You Are The Miracle
January 10, 2013

.

Lilloet Lake 045

[You] Are The One Miracle.

[You] are the miracle that does not recognize the miraculous-ness of the miracle.

[You] are the miracle that imagines there is something other than the miracle.

[You] are the miracle that attempts to abandon the miracle for everything that arises out of the miracle.

[You] are the miracle that imagines there are “other” more important or bigger miracles “out” there.

[You] are the miracle that imagines [you] need to

be something, think something, know something, understand something, have something or do something – to be the miracle.

[You] are the miracle that grasps and fears everything that happens because of the miracle.

[You] are the miracle that gets distracted by possibilities that arise because of the miracle.

The miracle is real – there is nothing but the miracle;

nothing exists outside the miracle – it’s all just miracle.

Rest as the miracle, Be the miracle.

Here/now – everywhere and always, [you] are already the miracle.

[You] are the One unspoken – unnoticed miracle;

notice the unnoticed,

Be attentive to the miracle [you] are.
